National Sister’s Day | Our 10 Favorite Moments

Did you all know that one of our favorite holidays is just a few weeks away? National Sister’s Day!!! As best friends, twin sisters and blog partners, we love getting the chance to celebrate our forever friendship on Sister’s Day. This is a day to acknowledge the joy and love that your sister brings into your life and to make sure that she knows that you cherish all that she does for you. Lindsay and I are definitely all about that!

To kick off our day of celebrating our sisterhood, we started with some lunch and shopping at none other than our favorite store: LOFT! Thankfully we have two locations close to where we each live so we are constantly popping over to see what new arrivals are available.

As soon as we saw these adorable floral dresses and straw bags we knew they’d be perfect for our sister day fun. After changing into our new outfits, we headed out to a new ice cream shop in the midtown OKC area.

We enjoyed a bit of our tasty ice cream and decided to head outside to grab some photos by the perfect yellow garage door in the back. Before we could even say cheese, our ice cream started melting!! I guess that’s what happens when it’s nearly 100 degrees outside LOL. Linds and I laughed it off and told ourselves, even melting ice cream dripping off our hands can’t keep us from enjoying a day of sister fun. As silly as it may sound, it reminded us that even when things aren’t perfect – we still have each other!

Before we share details on our sister style looks, Linds and I put together a list of 10 favorite sister memories. It’s definitely a trip down memory lane!

1. The day we won the high school talent show with a ballet dance that we had no idea anyone would like! We still can’t believe our classical dance beat out all the other acts in the show. One day we will have to find some photos to show you all.

2. Going to Paris and London to celebrate our graduation from high school. It truly was a trip of a lifetime! We both definitely can’t wait to go back.

3. Being Lindsay’s Maid of Honor {I got married four years before her} and Lindsay being my Maid of Honor. We definitely wouldn’t have had it any other way!

4. Making it to the state cross country meets several years in a row. Lindsay was actually a bit faster than me and she placed in the top 20 one year!

5. The day we found out we received our first paid blog collaboration! It was the 2nd year of our blog {we are on year six now} and it was such a big deal to think someone would actually pay us to post photos on our website!

6. Getting our college degrees was definitely a time we won’t forget. While we did end up graduating from two different universities, it was so special to be able to attend each other’s graduation ceremonies in the same week.

7. This might sound funny, but we both still remember the day we received our very first American Girl dolls as kids. It was such a big deal since the dolls were pretty expensive and were extremely popular. We both still have the dolls and clothing sets to this day. They are in pretty good shape considering how much we played with them! LOL

8. Attending our first NYFW together several years ago definitely was a pinch me moment. It was truly a bucket list item for us and we are so glad we got to experience it together.

9. Being named co-valedictorians and giving our speeches on the same day will always make our top list. It was such a special day! We worked hard to make sure our speeches didn’t sound the same at all LOL.

10. While we don’t remember actually being adopted as babies {we were around three months old} Linds and I will definitely never forget all the happy stories that our parents, grandparents, etc. tell us about that very special day! We are forever grateful that we were kept together and that God gave us the most amazing family two girls could ever ask for. It truly is a blessing that keeps on giving. 🙂

As soon as I saw this Summer Blossom Tie Neck Flounce Dress I knew it was the perfect thing to add to my summer wardrobe. Red + florals + a midi length is the perfect combo for me!! The gathered tie detail neckline, ruffle hemline and breathable cotton fabric will keep you reaching for this dress all summer long. The floral print is a mix of yellow, blue, green and reds which means you have so many options for adding in shoes, bags, jewelry and more. I decided to use the same straw bag as Linds {it’s the perfect size} and had to wear the same crystal charm bracelet. It reminds of how we used to wear our James Avery charm bracelets as girls. They were definitely prized possessions back then! I then picked out these new Beaded Loop Drop Earrings to add a little sparkle to my look. Last but not least, how adorable is this Bon Voyage Striped Pouch? I can’t wait to take it along on a sister trip we are taking on Wednesday!
