There’s a lot of trends lately that L and I have enjoyed experimenting with: colorblocking, hi-low hems, and pattern mixing to name a few. One trend though that has become a staple for us both is mixing a warm, deep shade (burgundy) with a bright pop of color (hot pink) – as displayed in today’s outfit. It’s really such a simple mix and match tip. Start with a deep, classic color like navy, army green or burgundy. On their own, it’s a bit dull and “seen this before” feel. However, throw in a splash of color from aqua (fabulous paired with navy), hot pink (great paired with burgundy) and neon green (lovely paired with olive green) and you have an easy recipe for a fab outfit. If you usually reach for neutrals, try out this advice to spice things up without feeling too “look at me, I’m wearing neon” or something else not so desirable.
So now to my outfit details. Today’s look combines three things I’m loving: Sole Society leather and suede wedges called “Kelly”, my gold double tassel necklace from J.Crew, and my latest closet addition – this polka tee shirt from J.Crew factory. I love how the pink and burgundy play off each other, along with the luxe factor provided by the timeless necklace.
