We are so excited to kick off the weekend with our 6th Blog Anniversary celebration! We can’t believe that it’s been six years since Lindsay and I started our blog. We thought it would be so fun to commemorate the occasion with sharing the top 6 things we’ve learned over the years of being duo bloggers.

What We’ve Learned After 6 Years of Blogging
1. It’s Fun Yet Complicated:
Blogging is much harder than it appears from the outside. It constantly puts us both in a juggling situation of prepping daily deals, sponsored posts, photo shoots, etc. Plus you have to throw in SEO, social media postings, back end site maintenance, email communications, contract negotiations and so much more.
We’ve learned it’s best to have a content calendar and look back at historical information to remind yourself of things you want to include on your blog.
2. Friendships:
Blogging has allowed us to meet some of the most amazing people! In the beginning stages I don’t think either of us realized what a source of inspiration and encouragement our blog would actually bring thanks to the amazingly kind and talented women we would meet along the journey.
So many of them we have been able to see in person today at the annual rewardStyle conference and it’s be such a reminder that blogging doesn’t have to be a lone sport. Gaining insight and inspiration from other women that are doing the same job is the best way to stay motivated.
3. Material Items:
Funny enough, after years of blogging it has made clothes feel not quite as important. We love finding great deals and stylish outfit combos but realize practically everything is replaceable. So no need to save that special dress or that expensive bag you splurged on after your first big promotion – go ahead and use it!
Enjoy the things you have and if something doesn’t fit or make you feel good anymore then pass it along to someone else that can enjoy it. 🙂
4. Value:
I think one of the hardest things that bloggers deal with is understanding their worth. So often it seems that we doubt ourselves when pitching a deal or don’t know how to appropriately charge for services.
Our advice is don’t undervalue your worth! There are so many great resources available to help you in this area as well. We highly recommend Julie Solomon. Her podcasts are online posts are incredibly insightful.
5. Consistency:
This is a hard one to live both professionally and personally, but Linds and I have found consistency is so important to being successful. Ever since we started blogging and focusing on daily deals {you all know how we love to save on stylish things LOL} it’s been our goal to to stay consistent with posting multiple times daily to all our social channels plus have three blog posts up a week.
It’s sometimes hard, but we try our best to remind you all that there’s always a great new #doubletakedeal on our website or social media! By showing importance to what you do then it lets your readers {and brands you work with} that you are reliable, professional and enjoy what you do.
6. Do You:
Okay this might sound like a cliche, but stay true to yourself! So often we’ve wondered if we should try the latest greatest IG filter or perhaps wear all neutrals or even cut our hair into a lob {which btw there’s nothing wrong with any of these if it’s YOUR idea to do it}. And then we take a step back and realize that we don’t have to follow a trend to hope for more followers or get more likes, website visits etc.
Our vision from the start was to provide a “double take” on all things affordable style, beauty and deals. Our motto is the more color, the better! So we will continue to bring you all posts full of color, prints and on trend yet tasteful outfits because that’s who we both are in real life. Never be ashamed of what makes you YOU. 🙂
So now that we’ve shared our “things learned” list, let’s talk about these stunning dresses!!! Tahari ASL makes such gorgeous items ranging from dresses and tops to jackets and skirts. As soon as we saw these maxi dresses from the latest collection we knew they’d be so perfect together.
Lindsay’s Look:

Whitney’s Look:

6 years! It’s amazing to track how fashion has changed so much even in the span of less than a decade. Prints like these Tahari dresses are stunning now; admittedly, I’m not sure I would have allowed myself to say that even 6 years ago (I was so scared of prints back then!).
